How to win lane as Jax against Trundle · 54.83% win rate over 518 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | Level 1 is your weakest window with just Q, but Trundle only wants to farm and chip last-hits with Chomp — neither of you commits. |
| Level 2 | Jax | Taking W gives you Q-into-Empowered-auto, a burst trade his Chomp bite and autos cannot match yet. |
| Level 3 | Jax | Counter Strike online means you dodge his autos and the swing off his Chomp, then recast to stun — your first real lane takeover. |
| Levels 4-5 | Jax | You out-trade him as you rank the combo; his sustain isn't enough yet and his autos keep feeding your dodge-stun. |
| Level 6 | Jax | Grandmaster at Arms' Armor/MR burst holds through Subjugate's resist-steal and the on-hit ramp out-DPSes his King's Tribute drain. |
| First item | Jax | Your Trinity Force / on-hit spike grinds through his Chomp AD-steal faster than King's Tribute can heal it back. |
| Two+ items | Even / skill | Late, King's Tribute, stolen AD, and Subjugate's doubling resist-steal let him out-sustain a long fight — end it fast or splitpush instead. |
Trundle is one of the few tanks who can answer your duel, so don't fight raw — make Counter Strike do the work. His damage is autos plus Chomp, the bite that steals your AD and resets his attack, and your E dodges those swings, so bait him to walk up and bite, then recast to stun and punish. Level 1 is a wash since you only have Q and he just wants to farm and chip your last-hits with Chomp, but at 2 you take W and your Q-into-Empowered-auto out-trades his bite. By 3 the full combo flips the lane hard.
