How to win the jungle race as Nunu & Willump against Jax · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
Read from Nunu & Willump's seat: the race windows this plan plays for against Jax.
| Stage | Read | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 Clear | Respect Jax | The window at the first buff belongs to Jax: Leap Strike trades onto anyone who steps up to contest their camp. Your own line is real — Consume chunks monsters, not champions — clear safe and protect objectives — but it arrives second here. Wait out the two-second dodge window before you swing — never auto into the spin, then skip the level-1 crossing. |
| Level 2 Skirmish | Respect Jax | At level 2 this window belongs to Jax: Counter Strike dodges camp autos and stuns whoever commits into them, and Counter Strike dodges your autos and answers with a stun-leap burst. Wait out the two-second dodge window before you swing — never auto into the spin. Refuse the level-2 skirmish and bank tempo on the opposite side of the map. |
| Level 3 Route | Respect Jax | Counter Strike dodges your autos and answers with a stun-leap burst — Nunu & Willump has no answer to that at level 3. The Empower-Leap burst plus E stun favors them into any auto-attacker on their half of the map too, so give up the level-3 river fight and answer the pressure cross-map. |
| Levels 4-5 Macro | Respect Jax — Path Opposite | Levels 4-5 still belong to Jax in a straight fight — farm the opposite side, answer their ganks cross-map, and wait for your spike. |
| Level 6 Breakpoint | Respect Jax's R | The six-spike belongs to Jax, and Nunu & Willump's does not bridge the gap: the R resists plus Counter Strike out-stat every extended exchange. Trade in the gaps between his E windows and never stack autos into the dodge. Your own ultimate is a tool here, not a trump card — spend it to escape or equalize, not to start fights. |
| First Item Spike | Liandry's Spike | Completing Liandry's Torment puts a max-health burn on every Consume (Q), Biggest Snowball Ever! (W) and Snowball Barrage (E) hit, so camps and waves melt and brawlers who try to out-sustain you lose a chunk of health every trade. Jax's first item is a real threshold — the Empower-leap burst goes from a trade to a kill on squishier junglers. |
| 2+ Items Scaling | Danger — Jax Outscales | Every minute past 25 tilts toward Jax — he wins any extended duel on the map and will hold a side lane against two people. Force your win condition early or watch it slip away slowly. |
Start your clear at the Red or Blue Buff camp utilizing your Consume true damage to maximize early clear speed without needing a heavy leash. Jax clears well with Counter Strike eating camp attacks, and he arrives at three with health most junglers do not have.

Jax pressures 6 of the 7 windows in this race — survive the early game and scale into your windows.
Not exactly — Jax pressures 6 of the 7 windows, so Nunu & Willump is playing catch-up and has to lean on the map.
