Favour timeline — who owns each window

StageFavouredWhy
Level 1JayceYou take Cannon Q at level 1 and out-range his last-hits with the gate-poke — Sion has no shield and no gap-closer to answer, so you own the level.
Level 2JayceAdding Acceleration Gate turns Shock Blast into a full-range accelerated orb; he has to walk into it to farm and eats the Armor/MR shred on the Hammer swap.
Level 3JayceThis is your hardest-favor window — the gate-Q chunks every step-up and you can interrupt a charging Decimating Smash with Thundering Blow before he has tank items to fight back.
Levels 4-5SionSoul Furnace comes online and Sion pops the W shield to eat your gate-Q on demand, neutralizing the poke war while he farms safely through it.
Level 6SionHis Unstoppable Onslaught is a genuine level-6 engage that charges across the lane and knocks you up, while your R is only the Cannon/Hammer stance swap — the window flips to him.
First itemSionWith his first tank item and shield up he eats the orb, farms in his zombie passive, and starts out-trading the poke that defined your lead.
Two+ itemsSionBy two items a tanky Sion frontlines through your poke and a charged Q knockup into Onslaught deletes your defenseless frame — he hard out-scales you, so the lane is his.

Early game (levels 1–5)

Levels 1-3 are your whole window, so abuse them: take Cannon Q, drop Acceleration Gate, and fire Shock Blast through it at every step-up Sion makes to last-hit. The accelerated gate-Q out-ranges all of his tools and the Cannon-to-Hammer swap shreds his Armor and MR for a free chunk. He has no Soul Furnace shield yet and no gap-closer to answer you, so build a health lead and pressure plates. The one thing to respect is a fully charged Decimating Smash; if he winds it up, you can interrupt it with Hammer-form Thundering Blow before the knockup channels, but mostly just sidestep it and keep poking.
