Favour timeline — who owns each window

StageFavouredWhy
Level 1Even / skillQ Chomp bites him every time he steps to last-hit, stealing AD and dealing bonus damage, but Rumble has no ability yet either — both sides are trading auto-range poke and neither has a defining advantage.
Level 2RumbleFlamespitter comes online at level 2 and Rumble runs it through your feet before Frozen Domain is maxed enough to offset it — the sustained AP DoT beats your short-trade tools at this stage.
Level 3RumbleFlamespitter now has an additional rank and Scrap Shield is reliably absorbing your engage attempt — he out-DPSes you in any trade that runs past your initial Chomp hit.
Levels 4-5Even / skillNeither Flamespitter's DoT nor Frozen Domain's sustained bonuses cleanly dominate — the advantage swings with overheat timing, Scrap Shield cooldown, and how well you keep the ice zone under your feet.
Level 6Even / skillSubjugate goes R the instant he commits: you strip his MR mid-fight and stack it yourself, neutralising most of Flamespitter's remaining damage and making the extended fight heavily Trundle-sided.
First itemEven / skillTrinity Force Spellblade off every Chomp is your duel-power peak — you hit him harder and you heal more per trade inside Frozen Domain, but his Liandy's build is not yet capped so the lane is still tradeable for both sides.
Two+ itemsTrundleTwo items of MR — Spirit Visage or Force of Nature — absorbs Flamespitter completely, and Subjugate resist-steal at full build is overwhelming: you win every extended side-lane fight with Subjugate available and outlast him without it.

Early game (levels 1–5)

Level 1 is deceptively neutral: Q Chomp bites Rumble for solid flat damage and steals a chunk of his AD, but he has no abilities yet so neither of you has a defined pattern. Respect that and use the bite on every step-up attempt he makes to last-hit, banking tiny HP leads without overcommitting. At level 2 Rumble gains Flamespitter and the matchup shifts against you — his sustained fire DoT runs under your early Chomp and the W zone does not yet offset it, so he wins trades that extend past two seconds. Level 3 is the low point: Flamespitter hitting max early rank plus Scrap Shield absorbing your engage attempt means he can simply out-damage your healing in a committed fight. Play around wave position, not aggression. Never trade into Scrap Shield; let him waste it on a shield bait before you step forward.
