Favour timeline — who owns each window

StageFavouredWhy
Level 1Even / skillBoth of you hit level 1 with no meaningful CC — trade auto-for-auto sparingly and start identifying his Steel Tempest charge rhythm so you know when Q3 tornado is coming.
Level 2SionYour W-shield absorbs a Steel Tempest poke and detonates for magic damage — his crit scaling is not online yet so short trades favour your bulk.
Level 3SionFull kit online: charged Q knockup into E armor-shred is your rotation; hide the charge behind the wave so he cannot simply Wind Wall it or dash clear.
Levels 4-5Even / skillNeither of you has a meaningful power spike here — use E to shred armor and freeze the wave; avoid open-field Q charges that he can simply sidestep.
Level 6Even / skillHis Last Breath goes online and changes the calculus on your R engage — use Unstoppable Onslaught to initiate but land the charged Q stun before he repositions off a minion dash.
First itemSionHeartsteel is completed and your max-HP W-shield inflates with every stack — short trades are heavily favoured and your zombie passive denies his extended all-ins.
Two+ itemsYasuoHis Infinity Edge crit spike outpaces your W-shield value in the extended 1v1 — respect the damage, play for side-lane bulk presence, and let your team follow your R engages.

Early game (levels 1–5)

At level 1 you are both feeling each other out — Yasuo pokes with Steel Tempest autos and you are slow to charge Q in the open without being predictable. Hold the charge behind the wave or in brush so Wind Wall cannot intercept the angle; your Q is a ground slam that bypasses Wind Wall entirely, but only if you release it where there is no wall blocking the trajectory. At level 2 your W-shield goes up and suddenly his poke costs him more than it costs you — take the short trade: absorb a Steel Tempest auto on your shield, detonate the shield for magic damage, and back off. At level 3 the charged Q knockup is your full combo; once he sees a charge he will try to dash through a minion to dodge, so bait his dash first with a half-charge, then immediately start the real charge as he repositions.
