How to win lane as Kassadin against Darius · 48.4% win rate (2,308 Emerald+ games, lolalytics, sampled July 2026) · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
Survive the bully — every minute you're alive pre-6 is a minute closer to him being unable to play.
Track: Darius's E — Apprehend (26–16s cooldown). The pull starts every Darius kill pattern — bait it before stepping up.
Read from Kassadin's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Darius.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Darius | He out-bodies you at level 1 - his outer-blade Q and Hemorrhage bleed beat your lone Null Sphere, so just survive and last-hit. |
| Level 2 | Darius | At 2 he has Apprehend to pull you into a Q-and-bleed trade you cannot win; respect E range and concede the CS. |
| Level 3 | Darius | His level-3 all-in with E into stacked Hemorrhage and a full-damage Q deletes you — you have no Nether Blade mana sustain to fight back yet. |
| Levels 4-5 | Darius | Through 4-5 you are still behind, soaking bleed poke under tower; Nether Blade refills mana but you cannot trade into his combo. |
| Level 6 | Darius | Even with Riftwalk at 6 he wins a straight all-in - the blink is an escape over his 26-second pull here, not a kill button. |
| First item | Darius | His Hemorrhage bleed and Guillotine snowball still beat your first stall item; Rod of Ages brings you toward even but Darius keeps the edge. |
| Two+ items | Kassadin | At 2+ items Riftwalk's recasts and your AP burst let you blink-kite his slow kit forever — he never lands E and you assassinate him. |
Levels 1-3 are pure survival - Darius wins every melee all-in here and Null Sphere's shield does not help, because it absorbs magic and he deals none. Stay outside Apprehend's 535 range and last-hit from max distance; what kills you is an E pull into stacked Hemorrhage and a clean outer-blade Q. Note his Q geometry: the outer blade is where it deals full damage and heals him, so being shoved to the edge of it is the WORST place to be - if you are caught, step in toward the handle. Never greed a caster minion sitting next to him.
