How to win lane as Jax against Vladimir · 50.77% win rate over 1,229 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | Vlad is one of the weakest level-1s — but so am I with just Leap Strike and no Counter Strike. Deny his Transfusion last-hits and hold the wave for level 3. |
| Level 2 | Even / skill | Tides of Blood is spell poke, not autos, so Counter Strike can't block the poke yet — last-hit safely and save E for the level 3 all-in instead of eating chip with it. |
| Level 3 | Jax | At 3 the full Leap Strike + Empower + Counter Strike combo lands a stun on a no-dash Vlad whose Pool is on a ~28s cooldown, and I out-trade through Transfusion. |
| Levels 4-5 | Jax | Grandmaster at Arms' active Armor/MR steroid eats his Hemoplague burst while the R passive adds magic every third hit — a clean kill if I commit on a used Sanguine Pool. |
| Level 6 | Jax | My Trinity Force / on-hit spike still beats a one-item Vlad: he has Transfusion but no Rylai's slow and can't kite once Counter Strike stuns and I stick to him. |
| First item | Vladimir | At two items Vlad flips it — Rylai's slows me off Tides of Blood, Transfusion out-heals my chip, and Sanguine Pool dodges my committed leap-stun, so I can't kill him anymore. |
| Two+ items | Vladimir | Full-AP Vlad out-scales hard: Rylai's slow, Transfusion drain, and Pool deleting my all-in mean I can't catch him — I cash in my early lead and let my team handle the late game. |
Vladimir is one of the weakest level-1s in the game, but so am I with only Leap Strike and no Counter Strike, so the opener is genuinely even — deny his Transfusion last-hits and hold the wave for my level 3 spike. His damage is Tides of Blood (E) spell poke, not autos, so Counter Strike can't block the poke itself; what it CAN do is whiff his auto and the minion aggro so my recast stun lands clean, so I don't burn E just eating spell chip. Once I hit 3 I own the trade: bait or sidestep a Tides cast, Leap Strike in, Empower the landing hit, pop E to dodge his auto and recast for the stun on a champion with no dash whose Pool is on a ~28s cooldown. Mind that Transfusion heals him on every cast, so a slow trade where I only chip him goes nowhere — I want the full Empower combo plus the stun or I don't go in at all.
