How to win lane as Gangplank against Akshan · 51.17% win rate over 596 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Gangplank | Neither of you wants a raw level-1 fight and your ranged Parrrley grabs a last hit without stepping into his Avengerang range. |
| Level 2 | Akshan | His second Avengerang point lands and the boomerang's out-and-back arc chips you twice while your lone keg sits on a long cooldown with HP he can free-shoot. |
| Level 3 | Akshan | He out-pokes you outright at 3 — Avengerang double-hit plus the Dirty Fighting third-hit beats a keg you can't safely detonate into him yet. |
| Levels 4-5 | Even / skill | You get your second E point and Parrrley-into-keg poke comes online, so the chip war flattens to even through 4-5. |
| Level 6 | Akshan | Comeuppance plus Heroic Swing let him pick a sidelane fight or swing out of your Cannon Barrage, which zones ground but never out-duels him. |
| First item | Gangplank | Sheen/Essence Reaver empowers Parrrley to detonate a chained keg and burst a no-resist squishy straight through his passive shield. |
| Two+ items | Gangplank | Two items of chained keg explosions plus global Cannon Barrage one-shot him, and unlike a true scaler he can't reclaim this window. |
Akshan's early poke is the real threat. Avengerang (Q) bounces out and back so it tags you twice from outside your auto range, and his Dirty Fighting passive adds a chunk on the third hit plus a small shield, all while my single keg sits on a long cooldown with tiny HP he can just shoot to deny it. At level 1 I'm fine — neither of us wants a raw level-1 fight and I can Parrrley a last hit from range. But once he lands his second Q point he out-pokes me through levels 2-3, so don't walk up to place a keg inside his auto range. Farm with the tip of Parrrley, eat a little chip, and don't burn E on a barrel he'll just free-shoot.
