Swain is one of the easiest level-1s to disrespect: his Q (Death's Hand) cone is short-ranged and his E (Nevermove) pull-root is his only real threat, so the whole early game is sidestepping that one skillshot. Dodge his E and he is defenseless: walk up, throw Q for the boomerang chip, and let your passive's second shot stack the bonus-magic proc and shield onto you. Don't stand in a straight line at minion range or he'll land E, root you, and W-bomb you for a real chunk — but if that pull whiffs, he has nothing for its whole cooldown.
