How to win lane as Nautilus against Janna · 49.26% win rate over 4,596 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Janna | Janna's Q and W disruption deny your level-1 engage before you can even threaten a hook. |
| Level 2 | Janna | At level 2 she slows or knocks you out of Q range, so your power spike all-in fizzles. |
| Level 3 | Janna | By 3 her charged Q interrupts every Dredge Line and dash, keeping her ADC safe. |
| Levels 4-5 | Janna | Through 4-5 she out-spaces you with Zephyr poke while you have no ranged answer. |
| Level 6 | Janna | Monsoon hard-counters Depth Charge, disengaging your ult and peeling the target at 6. |
| First item | Janna | Even with your engage item her knockup buys the spacing to negate every commit. |
| Two+ items | Janna | In teamfights she is the premier anti-engage support who Monsoons your whole dive. |
This is a losing lane from the first level: Janna's Q (Howling Gale) and W (Zephyr) exist purely to interrupt and slow your engage, so your Q hook and dash windows are constantly denied. Don't throw Q on cooldown — she'll tap a short Q to knock you out of your own follow-up and the trade goes against you. Play for wave control and hope she misuses her peel; only commit when both her Q and Zephyr are down. Expect to lose the raw poke war since she pokes with Zephyr while you have no answer at range.
