He will try to keep max range and use Rupture to punish your step-ups: that ground spike is slow but the knockup interrupts your Frozen Domain, so read the animation and sidestep before committing W. Drop the ice zone at your feet only after you confirm his Q is on cooldown — then he has no way out, his Attack Damage is sapped by your Q, and you are healing faster than his passive regeneration can offset. At level 3 you can add Pillar behind him after a trade to deny disengage; a trapped Cho'Gath with no Q is a free chunk before the wave resets.
