At level 1 this is genuinely even — neither kit punches through the other without setup. The moment Shen hits level 2 and pairs E-taunt with W-spirit-blade, the lane tilts to him: he can dash onto you, block the retaliation autos the spirit blade soaks, and Q you during the CC window. Do not try to out-trade that combo short. Play around the charge telegraph — start your Q wind-up to bait the E-taunt early, then cancel and walk out; if he dashes onto a partial charge, immediately detonate W-shield to eat as much of his auto DPS as you can before spacing away. At level 3 your E is live but his W will block whatever auto follow-up you add, so trade only when his spirit blade is on cooldown or poorly positioned.
