How to win lane as Shen against Aurora · 55.35% win rate over 1,122 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | Aurora's Q poke outranges your abilities at Level 1 and her E blink is fresh — last-hit at Q tip range and deny her the free trade, do not give away Shadow Dash for chip damage. |
| Level 2 | Aurora | She has W exile and E blink both online and can kite out of every Shadow Dash you show — Aurora owns this window by controlling the spacing you cannot close reliably. |
| Level 3 | Aurora | Full kit Aurora with blink, exile, root, and Q poke against a Shen who still lacks Stand United's global threat — she dictates the trade timing and you cannot force a favourable exchange. |
| Levels 4-5 | Even / skill | Her blink is on a manageable cooldown and you have full W-block plus E-taunt, but she can still disengage safely — trades are genuinely skill-dependent on who tracks the E timer better. |
| Level 6 | Even / skill | Stand United is not online yet and Aurora's poke has had two levels to accumulate chip damage — the lane is close enough that neither side can force a clean kill without burning Ignite or Flash. |
| First item | Shen | Stand United flips the game clock — you can ignore the local lane, roam globally with R, and generate gold and objectives faster than Aurora can punish a wave you abandon intentionally. |
| Two+ items | Shen | Two-item Shen is a teamfight anchor: Spirit's Refuge blocks Aurora's burst combo on your carry, Shadow Dash forces her to auto you instead of her target, and Stand United arrives before she can finish the engage she started across the map. |
Aurora's kit at levels 1-2 is all about Q poke at range and holding her E blink as a Shadow Dash escape — she can sit at the tip of Q range and whittle your HP while your Spirit's Refuge zone is offline. Level 1, accept the asymmetry: walk up only to last-hit, let your Q blade hang behind you so the empowered autos punish her if she overextends, and do not burn Shadow Dash for poke trades. At Level 2 she gains W spirit exile and becomes genuinely dangerous — she can blink out of your taunt if she sees it coming, so the key habit is faking a walk-up to bait the blink before committing E. If she wastes E on a non-commit, immediately Shadow Dash and run the trade through the W zone while she is blink-less.
