Level 2 changes everything: the moment you unlock Shadow Dash, step up and force a short trade — E into him so his autos must target you, drop W behind you so his Q dash and Frenzied Maul bites are all blocked by Spirit's Refuge, then fire Q through the blade for empowered magic damage. Your Ki Barrier shield eats the return damage and you come out clearly ahead. Level 3 is your clearest window: with Q, W, and E all online you can bait his Q Thundering Smash dash, E-taunt into him, place W so the blade is between you and him, and Q through it — that three-ability combo with the Ki Barrier shield takes a large chunk of his health before Frenzied Maul's healing does anything meaningful.
