How to win lane as Sejuani against Darius · 50.95% win rate over 263 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Darius | His Decimate (Q) outer ring heals him and his passive bleed stacks from level 1 — take W, last-hit at ice-shard range, and give him nothing to Apprehend. |
| Level 2 | Darius | Apprehend (E) comes online at level 2 and his Hemorrhage bleed fully stacks by level 3 — every extended melee trade is a net loss until your full kit is up. |
| Level 3 | Darius | Your Q-W-E combo is online but so is his full bleed pattern — bait Apprehend first, then engage; if he pulls you into the chain you lose the trade. |
| Levels 4-5 | Darius | He out-damages you in sustained fights levels 4-5; freeze near tower and track Apprehend cooldown before any step-up. |
| Level 6 | Even / skill | Glacial Prison (R) gives you a long-range CC opener Darius cannot dodge without Flash — the lane is genuinely even from this point. |
| First item | Even / skill | Sunfire Aegis or Heartsteel absorbs his bleed and your passive Permafrost resistances spike — you can now win the trade your E stun sets up. |
| Two+ items | Sejuani | At 2+ items your CC chain and tank scaling far outpace his Hemorrhage threat — you are the teamfight engine and Darius is just a frontliner you stun. |
At level 1 Darius takes W (Decimate) and immediately out-damages you — his empowered Q outer-ring heal and Hemorrhage bleed are designed to punish every melee who stands next to him, and you have no reliable answer at this stage. Take W, last-hit with ice-shard range where you can, and do not trade. At level 2 his Apprehend comes online: if he pulls you at level 2 while you have only Q or W available, you will eat a full bleed stack with no escape and lose a third of your health bar for free. Your level 3 combo (Q-charge into double-W into E stun) is your first honest moment — if you bait his E on a fake step-up and it misses, that is your window to Q in, W twice for Frost stacks, and E stun him. Without Apprehend he cannot stop you from walking out after the stun, and the Hemorrhage he started never fully stacks. Save that combo for that exact moment — do not burn Q into a Darius who still has his pull ready.
