How to win lane as Ryze against Yasuo · 52.96% win rate over 557 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Yasuo | Yasuo has his passive shield up and can stack Steel Tempest off minions freely — you have no root and he outspeeds your single Q, so farm at range and do not give him a melee-range fight. |
| Level 2 | Even / skill | His passive shield may be down and your W root creates the first real threat window — punish any hard dash-in with a W-into-empowered-Q before he completes a third Steel Tempest knock stack. |
| Level 3 | Ryze | Full E-Q-W Flux cycling at melee range bypasses his Windwall entirely, turning his entire defensive kit into dead weight while your cascade bounces through him. |
| Levels 4-5 | Even / skill | Mana costs keep you honest before Seraph's; play around W cooldown and shove when Windwall is deployed to deny his Sweeping Blade targets in the wave. |
| Level 6 | Ryze | Realm Warp opens roam and flank pressure; he has no kill threat on you under tower if you bait his dash-in into a clean W root. |
| First item | Ryze | Seraph's Embrace drops your loop cooldowns into near-permanent rotation — you out-sustain his burst trading pattern and the mana gate that held you back vanishes. |
| Two+ items | Yasuo | Two crit items plus Last Breath make any knockup source a one-shot threat — give this window to Yasuo and use Realm Warp for repositioning rather than walking into his knock setup. |
At level 1 you have only Q, which is a short-range projectile he can dash under and retaliate freely — do not walk up trying to melee-range Flux stack, just last-hit and accept the first few minion waves from range. Level 2 gives you W and your first root threat; the moment he dashes toward you to complete a Steel Tempest stack, snap the root on him and fire the empowered Q into his face before he can reset another dash. By level 3 the E-Q-W Flux loop is live, and because you are fighting at melee range his Windwall does not save him — your empowered Q and W bounce AOE hit him directly, so trade every time you have E up and the wall is on cooldown.
