How to win lane as Ryze against Darius · 51% win rate over 502 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Darius | You have only Q and must approach melee range to activate Flux — Darius punishes with auto-E-auto Hemorrhage stacking before any trade pattern exists for you. |
| Level 2 | Darius | W root is online but costs your only safety tool; spending it offensively into Apprehend range loses the trade and your escape in one button press. |
| Level 3 | Darius | Your E-W-Q combo through Fluxed minions is live, but Darius's level 3 empowered Q spin heals the chip and threatens a five-stack all-in if you misjudge distance. |
| Levels 4-5 | Darius | Mana costs are high pre-item and your Flux pattern requires walking close — Darius punishes any over-extension with Apprehend into a full Hemorrhage cycle you cannot heal through. |
| Level 6 | Even / skill | Realm Warp adds map pressure and flank angles, and your EQ DPS is now a real threat — neither side cleanly owns a straight 1v1 at this stage. |
| First item | Even / skill | Seraph's CDR makes your combo near-permanent, which means Phase Rush fires almost every trade — you can now out-trade short exchanges, though Darius's bleed still punishes greed. |
| Two+ items | Ryze | Full mana-item Ryze out-DPS's Darius in extended team fights; his execute is useless if you never let Hemorrhage reach five stacks before the fight ends. |
Level 1 is simply survive: you have only Q, and Darius walks at you with E up and passive Hemorrhage ready to stack on any auto he lands. Hug the back of the wave, last-hit with Q at maximum range, and do not give him a free Apprehend target — the pull is the starting gun for every Darius kill. At level 2 your W root is online but spending it as an opener into Apprehend's range is suicide; save it as an escape tool so a misplayed trade doesn't become a death. Level 3 is your first real breath: E a minion adjacent to him, W root through the wave so minions absorb the Flux bounce, double-Q as Phase Rush fires, and use the speed boost to exit his answer range before Hemorrhage reaches five stacks.
