Favour timeline — who owns each window

StageFavouredWhy
Level 1Even / skillYou both have miserable early games, but he must walk into melee to farm while you soak Siphoning Strike stacks off the wave, so the level-1 wash slightly favors your farm.
Level 2NasusWither comes online and locks down a blink-less Kassadin — if he steps up you slow his attack speed and movement and walk him down before he has Riftwalk to escape.
Level 3KassadinHis Q silence plus passive magic shield lets him win the level-3 poke trade your Spirit Fire cannot answer, and you have no way to all-in through the silence.
Levels 4-5KassadinHe hoards stacks and pokes with shielded Q while you are stuck farming, and any commit you make eats the silence and a free burst rotation.
Level 6KassadinRiftwalk unlocks his entire kit — he blinks in for the Q-silence burst and blinks out before your Wither slow or Fury of the Sands can pin a single-target ult on him.
First itemKassadinHis first AP item snowballs Riftwalk and his Q burst faster than your Sheen/Iceborn Q ramps, so he out-trades and out-roams you through the item phase.
Two+ itemsNasusYour infinite Siphoning Strike stacks plus Fury of the Sands and a long Wither flip it back: catch his blink-in with the slow and his squishy body cannot kite your empowered Q.

Early game (levels 1–5)

Levels 1-2 are a non-event in my favor only because Kassadin is even weaker than I am pre-6 and has to walk into melee range to farm. I just soak Siphoning Strike stacks off the wave and accept that I cannot punish him hard yet. At 3 Wither flips a clean window: if he steps up to last-hit I can land the attack-speed plus movement slow, walk him down with autos, and chunk him while he has no Riftwalk to escape. Do not overcommit into his Q silence though, because the silence plus his passive magic shield turns a greedy all-in into a feed.
