How to win lane as Mel against Trundle · 46.36% win rate · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | You both have a weak level 1, but his Q bite gives him sustain you cannot match in a pure poke war, so it is a coin flip on who lands first. |
| Level 2 | Mel | Q plus Solar Snare lets you root and punish him as he steps up to last-hit, before his Frozen Domain sustain is fully online. |
| Level 3 | Even / skill | Your W eats no projectile of his and his Q heals your chip back, so neither of you converts the trade cleanly, it is even. |
| Levels 4-5 | Even / skill | Your Q ranks up and Overwhelm builds, but his Q drain sustains through it, trading your poke for his heal at a wash. |
| Level 6 | Even / skill | Golden Eclipse gives you a burst window, but his Subjugate heal and tankiness mean it rarely converts to a kill, netting out even. |
| First item | Even / skill | Your first item lets you chain pokes, yet his sustain and pillar walk-up keep him in the fight, so the lane stays a stalemate. |
| Two+ items | Trundle | He out-scales hard: his Q bite out-sustains your poke and he gets too tanky for Overwhelm to execute, then Pillar of Ice corners you for the kill. |
Trundle has no gap-closer and no ranged threat for your W to eat, so your Q poke and the Solar Snare root are free as long as you respect his pillar. At level 2 with Q and E you can root him the instant he walks up to a minion and chunk him before his Frozen Domain bite (Q) heals it back. The catch: his Q sustain means your early chip evaporates fast, so don't trade just to trade, hit him when he steps into CS range and punish, otherwise hold your stacks.
