How to win lane as Mel against Sylas · 41.98% win rate (424 Emerald+ games, lolalytics, sampled July 2026) · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
Poke mirror you usually win — your reflect makes his best spell a liability.
Track: Sylas's E — Abscond / Abduct (13–9s cooldown). Dash into chain-stun — punish him hard while it is down.
Read from Mel's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Sylas.
This is Mel's own plan; across 424 pooled games the lane is Sylas-favoured.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | Level 1 you both have one ability — your 550 range pokes but you lack the projectile count to commit, and his single E can punish a step-up. |
| Level 2 | Mel | Q plus Solar Snare gives you a guaranteed root-and-poke punish every time Sylas walks up to last-hit. |
| Level 3 | Mel | With Q, E and W online you out-poke him, root his Abscond, and feed the Abduct chain back through your wall. |
| Levels 4-5 | Mel | Your Q ranks and Overwhelm stacks accumulate faster than his W drain can heal, so you win the repeated trades. |
| Level 6 | Even / skill | Golden Eclipse executes a stacked Sylas from range, but he can steal it with R — even window, only commit when his ult is down. |
| First item | Mel | Lost Chapter and your first AP item let you chain pokes and detonate freely before his drain-heal recovers. |
| Two+ items | Sylas | Two AP items turn Kingslayer into sustain that out-statchecks unmitigated poke — without Grievous Wounds his all-in beats your kite from here. |
Sylas has to walk into your 550 range to farm, and that is where you tax him. At level 2 with Q and Solar Snare, root him the moment he steps up for a last-hit or commits an early Abscond, then layer Q bolts and empowered autos to stack Overwhelm. His E is only a 400 dash and it does not stun — Abduct's chain is the reach, so if that whiffs he eats free poke. Hold W for the Abduct chain and fire it back.
