How to win lane as Mel against Kennen · 44.54% win rate (238 Emerald+ games, lolalytics, sampled July 2026) · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
Poke mirror you usually win — your reflect makes his best spell a liability.
Track: Kennen's E — Lightning Rush (10–6s cooldown). His engage and escape — the stun chain starts here.
Read from Mel's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Kennen.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | It's a 550-range mirror poke standoff — my Q Radiant Volley trades evenly with his Thundering Shuriken and neither of us can safely commit yet. |
| Level 2 | Kennen | Kennen edges it as his Mark of the Storm chain comes online — even with my Solar Snare root, his Q-W poke stacks toward a stun faster than I can answer on cooldown. |
| Level 3 | Kennen | He owns the wave once his full poke is up — his energy never runs dry while my Radiant Volley is mana-gated, so he out-chips me in any extended trade. |
| Levels 4-5 | Kennen | His Mark of the Storm stacks plus Electrical Surge autos out-pressure my single Solar Snare root, and he pokes my squishy frame from outside my commit range. |
| Level 6 | Kennen | His level-6 Slicing Maelstrom into a third mark stun-locks me through my one root and bursts me before I can detonate Golden Eclipse — this is his takeover. |
| First item | Kennen | His Liandry's / Alternator spike out-pokes my mana-gated Q from infinite energy, chunking my low-HP body down between Radiant Volleys. |
| Two+ items | Even / skill | Even again late — my infinitely-scaling Overwhelm passive and Rebuttal eating his projectiles let me trade the poke war back if I survived his mid-game. |
Level 1 is a near-mirror poke standoff — we're both 550-range mages, so I trade Q for his Thundering Shuriken and neither of us commits. My real window is level 2: with Radiant Volley and Solar Snare I can root him the instant he steps into Q range to last-hit, then dump a Q on the rooted target to start stacking Overwhelm. Hold Rebuttal for his Shuriken — eating it and firing it back swings a trade hard. Don't burn E as poke; it's my only CC and I need it to punish his oversteps, not to chip.
