Favour timeline — who owns each window

StageFavouredWhy
Level 1MelKassadin is a weak, escape-less melee at level 1 while I poke from 550 range — chip him with Radiant Volley and empowered autos before his shield matters.
Level 2MelSolar Snare's root plus Q punishes any step-up to last-hit, and a pre-Riftwalk Kassadin has no way to escape the follow-up — this is my cleanest kill window.
Level 3Even / skillEven now — I still out-range him and stack Overwhelm, but his passive shield blunts my chip and I can't kill him outright without a root landing first.
Levels 4-5Even / skillIt stays a coin-flip through 4-5: I rank Q and accumulate stacks, but he's farming safely toward 6 and his shield keeps eating my poke.
Level 6KassadinRiftwalk comes online and his blink dodges my Solar Snare — the lane flips from my poke war into his hide-and-seek as he starts closing the gap on cooldown.
First itemKassadinHis first item plus stacked Riftwalks let him blink past my poke and Q-silence my abilities, turning the range advantage I rely on against me.
Two+ itemsKassadinFull-build Kassadin out-scales me hard — he Riftwalks onto my squishy body and bursts me before R detonates, so I play safe and let my team handle him.

Early game (levels 1–5)

Levels 1-3 are mine because Kassadin is a melee with no Riftwalk yet — he has to walk into my 550 range to last-hit, and that's where I punish him. At level 2 I pick up Solar Snare and Radiant Volley: root him on any greedy CS step, then rain Q on the snared field and feed empowered autos to start stacking Overwhelm. His passive magic shield will eat a little of my chip, but it can't regenerate as fast as I apply stacks if I keep the poke constant. The one thing to respect is his Q silence — don't get tagged and locked out of Rebuttal, and use my W wall to swallow that orb and fire it back at him.
