The whole problem is his E, Death's Grasp: if he pulls you in, his Q (Mace of Spades) lands as a single-target hit for its isolated bonus damage and your shallow mana pool can't trade back. Hug the wave, last-hit with Q range, and never stand where one E can drag you under his tower. His Indestructible (W) heals a portion of the damage he deals and takes, so chipping him with Q just feeds his shield — don't waste mana on it.
