How to win lane as Jayce against Vladimir · 49.11% win rate over 1,067 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | Vlad is one of the weakest level-1s, but Jayce has no defensive stats either — contest his Transfusion last-hits at gate-Q range and set the wave up rather than forcing a fight neither of you wins. |
| Level 2 | Jayce | Unlocking E turns Shock Blast into the full-range accelerated orb — fire it through the gate at every step-up while his only escape is Sanguine Pool. |
| Level 3 | Jayce | Full kit online: Cannon-Q swap-shreds his Armor/MR on the first hit, then Hammer To-the-Skies and Thundering Blow burst a pre-pool Vlad before he can react. |
| Levels 4-5 | Jayce | You out-trade a pre-Rylai Vlad all day — bait Sanguine Pool with a half-commit, then run the full pattern while its long cooldown is up. |
| Level 6 | Vladimir | Level 6 flips toward Vlad: your R is only the stance-swap, not a new burst tool, while Hemoplague amps his damage and heals him off it — reassess every all-in once it's up. |
| First item | Even / skill | Eclipse / Manamune keeps the gate-Q combo lethal and still trades with his first AP item, but it only connects on Sanguine Pool's cooldown — read it before committing. |
| Two+ items | Vladimir | Vlad out-scales hard: two-item full-AP Vlad pools your burst, pokes with Tides of Blood and Hemoplague-drains through your damage — play for objectives and let your team deal with him. |
Vlad is one of the weakest level-1s in the game and Jayce has zero defensive stats of his own, so neither of us fights at 1 — I take Cannon form and contest his Transfusion last-hits at gate-Q range. The real punish starts at 2-3: with E down I fire Shock Blast through the Acceleration Gate for the full-range accelerated orb, and every step-up he takes to last-hit eats it. His only escape is Sanguine Pool, so if he pools early to dodge the poke I get a free shove; if he holds it, I bait it with a Cannon-Q then swap to Hammer for the Armor/MR shred and a To-the-Skies leap before pool is back up.
