Kassadin is one of the weakest melee laners into a Cannon-form caster — he has to walk into Shock Blast range to last-hit and his early Null Sphere shield is thin, so abuse it. Fire the orb THROUGH Acceleration Gate so it hits full range and full damage, then if he steps up, swap Mercury Cannon into Mercury Hammer — the first hit shreds his MR and you chunk him. Don't auto blindly into his Null Sphere: it silences and shields, so either bait it on nothing or wait it out, because once it's down he has no answer to your Cannon-Q into Hammer combo.
