How to win lane as Gnar against Yone · 50.53% win rate over 950 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Gnar | Mini's ranged autos plus a single Boomerang win the first trade before he stacks his third Q for a dash to reach you. |
| Level 2 | Gnar | Your Hyper third-hit bonus damage plus Boomerang lands a free chunk and shove, and his melee Q can't punish it yet. |
| Level 3 | Even / skill | You kite with Boomerang slow and Hyper move speed, but his E rewind and stacked-Q dash let him pick the trade — a wash. |
| Levels 4-5 | Even / skill | Strong if Rage lines up for a Mega Wallop stun, a liability if you revert to Mini while his Q and W are up. |
| Level 6 | Even / skill | You have no level-6 spell of your own; it's purely whether Mega is up to wall-combo before his R knockup bursts you. |
| First item | Even / skill | Your first-item poke trades evenly with his, but his E rewind and dashes blunt every clean all-in you try to land. |
| Two+ items | Yone | His on-hit/crit, third-Q dash, and R untargetability kite your reverts and outscale your form-locked burst. |
Mini form owns the first three levels — your ranged autos plus Boomerang out-range his melee Q while he's still landing basic strikes, and he can't reliably reach you until he stacks his third Q for the dash. At level 2 your Hyper bonus damage on the third consecutive hit lets you land a real chunk and shove, and he has no clean way to punish it yet. Just respect that his W (Spirit Cleave) shields him so your trades don't stick as hard as the numbers suggest, and that his E (Soul Unbound) lets him snap his body back out — don't over-chase a Boomerang into a trade you can't finish.
