How to win lane as Gangplank against Pantheon · 54.27% win rate over 750 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Pantheon | Pantheon's Comet Spear (Q) out-pokes your level 1 and his Aegis Assault passive blocks your Parrrley and basic attacks from the front, so every short trade goes to him. |
| Level 2 | Pantheon | His Shield Vault (W) is a point-click gap-close stun that lets him all-in you while your single Powder Keg is on a long cooldown and easy for him to free-hit and deny. |
| Level 3 | Even / skill | By levels 4-5 your second Parrrley and Powder Keg points let you chip-poke a keg from range and his level 6 Grand Starfall is a roam tool not a duel-winner, but he still threatens the all-in, so it is roughly even. |
| Levels 4-5 | Gangplank | Your Sheen/Essence Reaver spike flips the lane: empowered Parrrley detonating a chained Powder Keg out-bursts a Pantheon who buys no scaling to keep up. |
| Level 6 | Gangplank | Pantheon has no item scaling and falls off after level 6, so as your kegs and on-hit damage grow he can no longer win the trades he dominated early. |
| First item | Gangplank | By 2+ items chained keg detonations one-shot his squishy frame and Remove Scurvy cleanses his Shield Vault stun, so his only all-in tool stops landing. |
| Two+ items | Gangplank | Cannon Barrage zones Pantheon off objectives, sieges, and side-lanes from across the map, giving you map control he has no answer for once he falls off. |
Levels 1-3 belong to Pantheon and you have to respect it. His Comet Spear (Q) out-pokes you, his Aegis Assault passive periodically blocks your Parrrley (Q) and basic attacks from the front so AA trades go to him, and your single Powder Keg (E) has a long cooldown and low HP he can free-hit to deny your zoning. Do not step up into Q range to last-hit with autos; secure the cannon and caster minions with Parrrley from max distance, and hold Remove Scurvy (W) to cleanse his Shield Vault (W) stun and heal the chip if he commits a gap-close all-in. Eat a little poke, farm safe, and survive to your stabilizing levels.
