Kassadin is one of the weakest early melees in the game — pre-6 he has no Riftwalk blink and his Null Sphere isn't worth casting just to chunk you, so this is your lane to seize. Walk up, proc a Vital with a Q-Lunge auto and E-crit it for free true damage (his anti-magic passive does nothing against true damage) while he can only sit there and farm. The one thing to respect is his Null Sphere silence once it's leveled: it locks out your Lunge dash and Riposte mid-combo, so either bait it out first or hold W to block the cast and turn the trade.
