How to win lane as Akali against Jayce · 52.25% win rate over 1,775 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Jayce | Cannon Shock Blast through the Acceleration Gate out-ranges your Q and you have no Shroud yet — last-hit and eat the poke. |
| Level 2 | Jayce | He chunks you with ranged poke before you can answer, and any trade you start he knocks off with hammer-stance Thundering Blow. |
| Level 3 | Even / skill | Once Shroud is online you go untargetable through his cannon poke and reset trades — the lane levels out around his Shock Blast cooldown. |
| Levels 4-5 | Even / skill | Your ring-empowered autos punish his walk-ups, but his poke still trades evenly while the gate is up — it's a wash. |
| Level 6 | Akali | Perfect Execution turns every whiffed Shock Blast into a kill — E-mark in, dash through, then re-dash to execute on missing health. |
| First item | Akali | Lich Bane plus your full Q-E-R combo one-shots a squishy Jayce — force the all-in the instant his cannon Q is down. |
| Two+ items | Even / skill | He kites teamfights with Thundering Blow knockback and cannon poke from outside your range, but you still own the 1v1 — it's even, so close fast. |
Jayce owns the first three levels: cannon Shock Blast fired through his Acceleration Gate out-ranges everything you have, and at Level 1 you only have Five Point Strike with no Twilight Shroud to hide in, so don't walk up to throw a Q he can just blast you off of. Last-hit with the tip of Q and eat the chip rather than feeding trades into his ranged poke. The upside: his poke can't out-sustain your energy-refunding Q on the healing-rune build, and he has no real escape once you actually close the gap.
