How to win the jungle race as Xin Zhao against Evelynn · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
Read from Xin Zhao's seat: the race windows this plan plays for against Evelynn.
| Stage | Read | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 Clear | Xin Zhao Dominant | Three Talon Strike's knock-up plus passive healing wins the first buff-pit duel. Pre-stealth Evelynn is the weakest level-1 champion in the jungle, and before either of you has a second camp down that is not an answer. Take the level-1 crossing and make Evelynn path away from the camps you want. |
| Level 2 Skirmish | Xin Zhao Dominant | Wind Becomes Lightning (W) challenge poke starts trades you finish for free. There is no version of this Evelynn wins right now — pre-stealth Evelynn is the weakest level-1 champion in the jungle, and that folds on the second camp. Show on their side of the river and take the second buff and the tempo that comes with it. |
| Level 3 Route | Xin Zhao Dominant | The full knock-up combo with W slow is among the top three level-3 duels. Later in the game this bites, because her early duel is a bluff, but Allure charm setups punish brush face-checks. But as the first scuttle timer lands none of it is online, so take the level-3 river fight and tax every camp Evelynn concedes. |
| Levels 4-5 Macro | Xin Zhao Favoured — Take Duels | The 4-5 window is yours if you pick it: she is still farming for six and cannot contest anything she does not out-number. Track that pattern, arrive one camp early, and take the fight before the follow-up shows. |
| Level 6 Breakpoint | Respect Evelynn's R | From six on she is invisible — every face-check is a charm into Last Caress — Xin Zhao loses the straight post-6 duel. Buy sweepers, hug control wards, and never path alone through her quadrant, and shift your pressure to the side of the map Demon Shade is not on. |
| First Item Spike | Sundered Sky / Eclipse | Sundered Sky or Eclipse both reward punishing Evelynn the moment she reveals from camouflage to all-in: your Q knock-up feeds Sundered Sky's proc, while Eclipse's two-hit can kill through her Whiplash (E) burst before Demon Shade's out-of-combat heal comes back online. Either spike shortens the window she needs for an Allure (W)-into-Whiplash kill combo to actually work. Priority still lets you contest neutral objectives before she can restealth and reset the fight. Evelynn's first item plus camouflage is the spike that flips the matchup — the charm rotation starts killing outright. |
| 2+ Items Scaling | Danger — Evelynn Outscales | The clock is your enemy. She is invisible and lethal, and every unswept corridor is a charm into a delete, so close the game on the first two objectives you actually win. |
Start your clear at the Red Buff camp utilizing your Q resets and passive to maximize early clear speed and health. Evelynn clears slowly and unhealthily before six, so her early pathing is usually the safest, longest route she can take.
