How to win the jungle race as Morgana against Talon · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
Read from Morgana's seat: the race windows this plan plays for against Talon.
| Stage | Read | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 Clear | Respect Talon | The window at the first buff belongs to Talon: the Noxian Diplomacy bleed wins short trades at shared entrances. Your own line is real — the W camp-melt is elite tempo; champion fights are not — clear and bank it — but it arrives second here. Ward the over-wall paths — his burst needs surprise to actually finish the job, then skip the level-1 crossing. |
| Level 2 Skirmish | Respect Talon | At level 2 this window belongs to Talon: Rake's return damage makes mid-range poke trades free for them, and the Q-W bleed burst plus wall-hop angles start fights you never saw coming. Ward the over-wall paths — his burst needs surprise to actually finish the job. Refuse the level-2 skirmish and bank tempo on the opposite side of the map. |
| Level 3 Route | Respect Talon | The Q-W bleed burst plus wall-hop angles start fights you never saw coming — Morgana has no answer to that at level 3. Wall-hop pathing means they only pick fights when the numbers favor them on their half of the map too, so give up the level-3 river fight and answer the pressure cross-map. |
| Levels 4-5 Macro | Respect Talon — Path Opposite | You lose the 4-5 duel. He wall-hops through 4-5 into lanes that have pushed, and the Rake slow closes every remaining gap — so let them have that half of the map and cash the other half faster. |
| Level 6 Breakpoint | Respect Talon's R | The six-spike belongs to Talon, and Morgana's does not bridge the gap: the R stealth burst plus wall-hops mean the fight starts when he says it does. Sweep your jungle entrances — his burst needs the surprise angle to kill clean. Your own ultimate is a tool here, not a trump card — spend it to escape or equalize, not to start fights. |
| First Item Spike | Liandry's / Zhonya's | First items transform your pool and shackles into real kill pressure while the hourglass makes your engage survivable. Your camp economy accelerates past Talon's and your pick game becomes lane-altering. Force fights at pits where your W floors the contest space. Talon's first item is the point where the bleed rotation goes from a heavy chunk to a full kill on a squishy. |
| 2+ Items Scaling | Even Scaling — Prep Decides | Even at full build. Since he removes an isolated carry and leaves over a wall before anyone reacts, win the vision around the pit first and the fight second. |
Start at the buff adjacent to raptors or krugs — your W wants multi-monster camps immediately. Track Talon's entry side to place your binding-escape route; your clear speed buys you the map's safest farm pattern. Talon clears fast with Rake and Noxian Diplomacy bleeds, and the wall-hops mean his path is shorter than yours.

Talon pressures 5 of the 7 windows in this race — survive the early game and scale into your windows.
Not exactly — Talon pressures 5 of the 7 windows, so Morgana is playing catch-up and has to lean on the map.
