How to win lane as Teemo against Swain · 59.38% win rate over 485 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Swain | Swain's E (Vision of Empire) at level 1 threatens a root-into-auto trade before you have Blinding Shot online — he dictates the opening skirmish and you must respect his pull cone. |
| Level 2 | Even / skill | Blinding Shot is online and negates his auto-trade pattern, but his range and E threat keep the lane genuinely even — neither side can force a decisive trade yet. |
| Level 3 | Even / skill | Full kit running but Swain's tankiness and E root keep him in the fight; you out-poke but cannot guarantee a kill without jungle help at this stage. |
| Levels 4-5 | Even / skill | Your poke pattern is at maximum pressure with max-rank Q, but Swain's soul stacks are building and his short-trade sustain is growing — damage leads stay small rather than snowballing into kills. |
| Level 6 | Even / skill | Swain's Demonic Ascension activation radius means you can no longer risk extended duels; you control the map with shrooms but the lane kill threat is gone for both sides. |
| First item | Teemo | Liandry's DoT shreds his HP pool faster than Demonic Ascension can compensate — shroom the side lane and force him to fight or concede plates and CS while ticking down. |
| Two+ items | Swain | Two completed AP items let Swain sustain through your poison in extended fights; a single Vision of Empire root into Demonic Ascension is lethal now, and your split-push is the only safe win condition. |
Swain level 1 is stronger than most people expect from a mage — his auto-attack plus E (Vision of Empire) threat means the very first wave is not a free Teemo poke lane. Stand outside his E range (roughly two turret-lengths) and last-hit with your Toxic Shot auto-attack poke rather than walking into his pull cone. Once your Q Blinding Shot comes online at level 2 the dynamic flips: any auto trade he attempts is cancelled by the blind, your E poison stacks tick while he stands confused, and his Vision of Empire root is completely wasted if he lands it while you are already poisoned and backing off at Move Quick speed.
