At Level 1 this lane is purely about barrel awareness — Gangplank wants to pre-place a Powder Keg on your approach path and Q-detonate it before you can retaliate, so walk up to farm through safe angles and never step onto a keg for a CS. The moment you hit Level 2 and Shadow Dash is in hand, the dynamic shifts: you can close on him with E, force the taunt, and force Remove Scurvy early so his heal and cleanse are on cooldown. Use that window — Q-empowered autos through your spirit blade deal real damage to a relatively low-armor target, and your Ki Barrier shield absorbs his return hit. At Level 3 with Spirit's Refuge also available, you can W-place the zone, E-taunt him into it, and block his follow-up autos entirely; the problem is his barrel can still pop inside or near your W zone, so identify the keg before you dash and don't E into a live barrel.
