Bully him early — flame his Riftwalk gap at Danger-Zone heat.
Track: Kassadin's R — Riftwalk (5–2s cooldown). His mobility spike at 6. Kill him before it scales.
Read from Rumble's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Kassadin.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Rumble | Kassadin has no Riftwalk at level 1 and his passive shield only covers one tick — walk up and activate Flamespitter on every last-hit attempt he makes. |
| Level 2 | Rumble | Riftwalk is still down and you have Electro-Harpoon: double-slow keeps him in Flamespitter range long enough for the full Danger-Zone channel to punch through his shield. |
| Level 3 | Even / skill | Null Sphere does not silence — it interrupts channels, and Flamespitter is not one — so keep casting; what it buys him is a shield on demand. |
| Levels 4-5 | Even / skill | Riftwalk is up but stacks are low and his shield refreshes slowly; both of you are feeling out the new 1v1 parameters — neither side has a clean kill window. |
| Level 6 | Kassadin | Riftwalk blinks him through your cone every 5 seconds at rank 1 and Void Stone taxes all of your magic damage on the way in — the lane flips here for good. |
| First item | Kassadin | His Riftwalk stacks are building and his AP burst starts to threaten your Scrap Shield; Liandry's does not close the gap when he blinks past your Q entirely. |
| Two+ items | Kassadin | Full Riftwalk stacks make him near-unkatchable and his burst outdamages your shield before it absorbs anything meaningful — focus Equalizer onto teamfights, not him. |
At level 1 Kassadin is legitimately weak — no Riftwalk, no blink, just a melee mage. Walk up and burn Flamespitter on every last-hit he goes for; even one pass forces him back. Level 2 you add Electro Harpoon: double-cast the slow to keep him inside the cone for its full three seconds. The catch is Void Stone, a permanent magic damage reduction rather than a shield, so a clipped cone does nothing — you need 50–100 Heat and the empowered version to move his HP bar at all. Level 3 he can answer with Null Sphere, which shields him and interrupts channels, but Flamespitter is not a channel and there is no silence in his kit: keep casting, and spend both harpoons on the slow rather than saving one.
