How to win lane as Pantheon against Sion · 51.3% win rate (1,544 Emerald+ games, lolalytics, sampled July 2026) · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
Burst him — dodge his charged Q, snowball.
Track: Sion's Q — Decimating Smash (10–6s cooldown). Charged = knockup. Sidestep it.
Read from Pantheon's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Sion.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Pantheon | Your level-1 point-and-click Shield Vault beats a slow charged Decimating Smash and an immobile frame. |
| Level 2 | Pantheon | Level 2 (W+Q) gives you a hard all-in before Soul Furnace's shield matters — he cannot answer the stun. |
| Level 3 | Pantheon | At 3 you W-stun and empowered-Q him low — but step out of the charged Q, never channel E into it. |
| Levels 4-5 | Pantheon | You still out-poke him 4-5 with the thrown Comet Spear, though Roar of the Slayer shaves your armour first. |
| Level 6 | Even / skill | At 6 it evens out — Grand Starfall roams the map but will not solo-kill a Sion happy to farm and zombie under tower. |
| First item | Even / skill | Your Eclipse/Dirk spike keeps you ahead, but a Sunfire Aegis Sion behind Soul Furnace is too tanky to kill. |
| Two+ items | Sion | He out-scales hard: 2+ tank items, the Decimating Smash knock-up and Soul Furnace outlast your burst — splitpush instead. |
Level 1-3 is all yours. Mortal Will empowers your next cast every few spells and Shield Vault is point-and-click — Sion has no dash and Decimating Smash is a slow, telegraphed charge, so you pick when to all-in. Poke with the thrown Comet Spear while he last-hits, then at 2-3 commit W-stun into empowered Q. Crucial detail, and the opposite of what most players do: Aegis Assault blocks damage from the front, it does not stop crowd control, so a fully charged knock-up ends the channel. Step out of the swing rather than shielding into it.
