How to win lane as Nautilus against Irelia · 36.36% win rate over 22 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | Youre both weak at Level 1, but she can Q-dash through the wave to dodge or punish — keep it even and dont commit. |
| Level 2 | Nautilus | Your W shield and passive root let you win the first real short trade before she stacks her passive or lands E. |
| Level 3 | Even / skill | She gets her E stun and Q-dash mobility online — your combo still trades, but she can now slip your pull, so its skill. |
| Levels 4-5 | Irelia | She out-trades you here: passive shred and auto-resets chunk through your shield faster than your CC can kill her. |
| Level 6 | Irelia | Your R is undodgeable, but her E stun and W block let her survive the lock and reset on you — her window. |
| First item | Even / skill | Your tank spike holds the lane EVEN-ish, but her first item resets out-damage your plateauing base kit. |
| Two+ items | Nautilus | Late, youre a CC-bot: R + Q pull lock her out of teamfights so your team kills the Irelia you cant solo. |
Your only window is Levels 2-3. At Level 1 youre both weak — sit back, last-hit, and dont throw Q into the wave where she can Q-dash through it and punish your cooldown. Once you have W shield and your E shockwaves, your passive-root-into-Q-pull combo wins any short trade she steps into, so punish her when she walks up to last-hit. But land Q on a champion, not minions: a missed anchor is a free dash window for her.
