How to win lane as Lucian against Renekton · 50% win rate over 14 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | You both have weak level 1s; deny his Q (Cull the Meek) last-hits and set up your level 2 — don't trade into a pre-fury W stun. |
| Level 2 | Lucian | Your Q-W-Lightslinger double-shot out-trades him before he has fury or a second E to answer — this is your hardest early window. |
| Level 3 | Lucian | With Q-W-E up you poke, kite on Ardent Blaze move speed, and dash out of his range; he can't reach you without burning both E charges. |
| Levels 4-5 | Renekton | His W becomes a point-click empowered stun at 50+ fury — he E-in, W-stuns, and dumps a combo on your low base HP before your dash is back. |
| Level 6 | Renekton | The Culling is a damage spike, not a lane flip: his stun and second E catch you mid-channel, so this window is his unless his fury is empty. |
| First item | Even / skill | Your first item keeps you relevant as his slice-dice burst starts to thin — neither of you owns it cleanly, so trade only when his W is down. |
| Two+ items | Even / skill | He falls off and you stay relevant, but you out-scale no one — close on your early lead before his teamfight lockdown outweighs lane. |
Levels 1-3 are your window — abuse your auto range and the Lightslinger double-shot before Renekton has fury or his W stun. At level 2 with Q (Piercing Light) you out-poke him hard: throw Q, mark with W (Ardent Blaze), then walk up and Lightslinger him with the move speed. Just respect his level-1 W — pre-fury it is still a stun, so don't facecheck into a flat W when you're committed to a Q animation.
