Both of us are weak at level 1, but Vlad edges the next two levels — his charged E (Tides of Blood) and Q (Transfusion) drain out-trade my single mana-hungry Null Sphere, and I have no W (Nether Blade) yet to refund the mana I spend. Do not throw Q to trade; you will go OOM and he heals it off with his Q on minions. Farm passively, eat the poke, and remember my Void Stone passive cuts his magic damage by 15% (he has no such reduction against me) — so this is a patience phase, not a fight phase. Bank XP and wait for your spikes.
