How to win lane as Graves against Volibear · 60.71% win rate over 28 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | Voli's slow, single-ability level 1 is weak, but so is yours — one Q, no E charges yet, and your spread needs you in his face. |
| Level 2 | Graves | Your first E charge comes online and you start weaving into point-blank shells he's too slow to escape before his sustain ramps. |
| Level 3 | Graves | Full Q-E-Smoke-Screen kit lets you blind his maul and autos, burst with the spread, and dash out before his slow sticks. |
| Levels 4-5 | Graves | True Grit armor/MR stacks plus refreshing E charges out-brawl a pre-tank Voli who still has no resist items. |
| Level 6 | Graves | Collateral Damage nukes him and answers his engage — R him into a wall the moment he Sky-Splitters or Q-charges in. |
| First item | Graves | Your Eclipse/Youmuu's spike out-DPSes his first tank item — force the all-in while your shells still shred him. |
| Two+ items | Volibear | Full-tank Voli reclaims it: W maul heals, Relentless Storm chip and the Sky-Splitter stun let him walk through your spread and pin you. |
Voli is a weak, slow level 1 with only his Q charge-up — last-hit at range and don't sit next to him for a free W maul. From level 2-3 this is your lane: weave in with E for the point-blank 4-shell spread, drop Smoke Screen on top of him to blind his autos and Relentless Storm chip so his trade-back whiffs, then back out before his slow lets him stick. The one thing that ruins this window is his Sky-Splitter E — the leap slows then stuns — so trade when it's down and never sit still waiting to eat it.
