How to win lane as Galio against Pantheon · 45.76% win rate (1,202 Emerald+ games, lolalytics, sampled July 2026) · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
Respect the physical damage — trade Q + Colossal Smash when Shield Vault is down and build the armor side.
Track: Pantheon's W — Shield Vault (13–9s cooldown). His all-in start. Bait it.
Read from Galio's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Pantheon.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | Pantheon owns level 1 — Comet Spear (Q) out-pokes your single-rank Winds of War from 575 and Mortal Will empowers his next spell before you have any combo. |
| Level 2 | Pantheon | He still owns level 2: Shield Vault is a point-click stun-dash and an attack reset, so he all-ins before your W-taunt exists to answer. |
| Level 3 | Even / skill | At 3 with Q-W-E up it evens out: you can bait his stun, release Shield of Durand's taunt and Justice Punch the knockup, but he can still poke you with Q from range. |
| Levels 4-5 | Even / skill | Your combo cooldowns drop and his early burst stops killing you, so the W-taunt into E knockup punishes every all-in he commits. |
| Level 6 | Even / skill | Hero's Entrance is your biggest spike — a 4000-unit landing plus the taunt combo, though Grand Starfall reaches 5500 and matches the tempo. |
| First item | Pantheon | Your first-item spike on lowered cooldowns out-trades a Pantheon who is already sliding off his early-game power. |
| Two+ items | Pantheon | His damage falls off hard into items but your raw 1v1 plateaus too, so it evens out and your edge becomes R-roam and teamfight utility, not the duel. |
Levels 1-2 are the only scary part of this lane — Pantheon is a pure early bully and Shield of Durand does almost nothing for you here because his damage is physical, so the channel's magic-amplified reduction barely blunts Comet Spear (Q, 11s at rank 1, 575 range). Respect that poke and last-hit at the tip of Winds of War rather than walking up for a melee trade. Once Shield Vault (W, 13s) is up, never eat that point-click stun-dash in the open — it is also an attack reset, so the stun arrives with a free empowered hit behind it. At 3, with Q-W-E all up, you finally have a counter: let him commit the stun and combo, channel Shield of Durand to tank the burst and release the taunt, then Justice Punch the knockup to punish the over-extension.
