How to win lane as Cho'Gath against Aatrox · 45.03% win rate (1,399 Emerald+ games, lolalytics, sampled July 2026) · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
Silence his combo — out-scale him, Q-zone his Q.
Track: Aatrox's Q — The Darkin Blade (14–6s cooldown). Sweetspots knock up. Sidestep + Q him.
Read from Cho'Gath's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Aatrox.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Aatrox | His Q1 is a slow single sweetspot pre-rank-up and his W chain-pull is dodgeable — you farm freely on Carnivore and Vorpal Spikes with no real trade threat yet. |
| Level 2 | Aatrox | His full Q chain still isn't online, so neither side wins a clean trade; deny his free Q sweetspots and keep last-hitting on sustain. |
| Level 3 | Aatrox | His Q1-Q2-Q3 knockup chain comes online and out-trades you — every long exchange feeds his passive heal-on-hit, so stop contesting and farm the wave. |
| Levels 4-5 | Aatrox | He out-sustains your Carnivore in extended trades; his heal-on-hit recovers the poke faster than you can, so play safe and stack. |
| Level 6 | Aatrox | At 6 his R (World Ender) grants combat stats and ramped healing — a clean combo plus drain can kill you if you whiff Rupture, so respect every all-in. |
| First item | Aatrox | His first drain-bruiser item plus heal-on-hit out-heals your trades outright; concede the duel and farm Vorpal Spikes toward Feast stacks. |
| Two+ items | Cho'Gath | Your Feast stacks and tank HP let you survive his full combo, and Feast's flat true damage ignores the resists his items gave him to chunk him down. |
Levels 1-2 are genuinely fine for me — Aatrox's Q1 is a slow single sweetspot before he ranks it, and his W is a telegraphed chain-pull I can side-step while last-hitting. The danger is gifting him a free Q sweetspot, so I farm at max range and stay out of his knockup edge. If he steps up I can answer with a Rupture-Scream poke, but I never chase — his entire plan is baiting me into one long trade his heal-on-hit wins.
