How to win lane as Akshan against Olaf · 50% win rate over 22 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Olaf | Olaf only needs his axe (Q) to slow and re-throw, and he walks you down at level 1 while you have a single passive double-shot and no E yet. |
| Level 2 | Akshan | Your second passive double-shot comes online and Q out-pokes him — chip him on the axe cooldown before he closes the gap. |
| Level 3 | Akshan | E (Heroic Swing) gives you a poke-and-kite tool off lane terrain that his short-range axe-throw walk-up cannot punish at range. |
| Levels 4-5 | Even / skill | It is a coinflip — your Q and E chip him, but his axe lifesteal heals the poke right back, so neither side owns the window. |
| Level 6 | Even / skill | His R (Ragnarok) makes him CC-immune and your E can't peel him, but your R (Comeuppance) still executes him from range, so the level cancels out. |
| First item | Akshan | Your Youmuu's/Serpent's Fang lethality spike plus grievous wounds lets your burst race his axe sustain if you fight on cooldown. |
| Two+ items | Olaf | Past two items he outscales your lethality — a durable Ragnarok bruiser who pens through your passive shield and walks down your poke. |
Level 1 belongs to Olaf — he only needs his axe (Q) to slow you, and he picks it back up off the ground to throw again, walking you down while you have just one passive double-shot. Respect that and farm with the tip of your Q rather than trading. Once you hit 2 and 3 your second double-shot lands and E (Heroic Swing) arrives, and that flips the short trades: dodge his axe so the slow whiffs, then Q-poke and double-shot him on the axe cooldown. Never stand still in a minion wave, where a thrown axe is guaranteed to land its slow.
