How to win lane as Akali against Nautilus · 49.87% win rate over 24 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Nautilus | Nautilus wins the opener — one Dredge Line (Q) hook plus the Staggering Blow passive root chain-CCs you while you only have Q and no Shroud to escape. |
| Level 2 | Even / skill | It hinges on his hook: sidestep the Q and you trade fine with empowered autos, eat it and his root locks you for the Riptide follow-up. |
| Level 3 | Even / skill | Neither owns it yet — you farm at range with Five Point Strike while respecting that one landed hook still flips the trade his way. |
| Levels 4-5 | Akali | Shroud (W) comes online and lets you break his targeting and reset, tilting the trades your way even before your ult. |
| Level 6 | Akali | Perfect Execution (R) gives you a gap-closer and execute, so any down-Q step-up from him becomes a kill — your strongest window. |
| First item | Akali | Your Rocketbelt/Lich Bane spike plus E-into-double-R is your hardest all-in, bursting him before tank items make him unkillable. |
| Two+ items | Nautilus | Full-tank Nautilus chains Q hook, Riptide slow and his R knockup with too much HP for your single-target burst to finish. |
Nautilus owns these first levels. Dredge Line (Q) is a skillshot hook, but it's a hard commit — if it lands he yanks you in and his Staggering Blow passive roots you on the very next auto, so eating one hook at level 1-2 means a free root-into-Riptide (E) combo while you have no Shroud to escape. Don't path up to last-hit when his Q is up; poke and farm at range with Five Point Strike (Q) and accept you're slightly behind. The upside: that hook is a single skillshot on a long cooldown, so sidestep it and he's defenseless until it's back.
