How to win lane as Sylas against Ziggs · 52.49% win rate over 301 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Ziggs | Ziggs Q out-ranges your entire kit at level 1 — he pokes for free while you have no dash and cannot retaliate without walking into three bomb hitboxes. |
| Level 2 | Ziggs | His W knockback interrupts your E chain pull the moment the projectile appears — he holds it reactively and wins every level-2 skirmish where you commit your hook. |
| Level 3 | Ziggs | Full kit access means you can bait his W placement and then hook past his E minefield, but his range advantage still forces you to outplay him just to trade evenly. |
| Levels 4-5 | Even / skill | His W is on a long cooldown after one use and your E is shorter now — wait for the W whiff, then hook in; the fight goes to skill on who reads the other's cooldowns first. |
| Level 6 | Sylas | Stealing Mega Inferno Bomb gives you his best teamfight and siege tool with your AP scaling — he loses his primary long-range threat and cannot safely pressure you off the wave. |
| First item | Even / skill | Shadowflame or Luden's spike means he can nearly one-shot you mid-hook if you are poke-damaged; your Riftmaker sustain keeps you in the fight but you must approach with more HP than you think you need. |
| Two+ items | Even / skill | Both of you have meaningful teamfight presence in late skirmishes — you on the hook-dive pattern, him on global poke and minefield denial — and the 52% win rate reflects that neither side cleanly dominates. |
At level 1 you have Q or W and no reliable way to close the 900-range gap on Ziggs's Bouncing Bomb — accept the poke, farm with Q at maximum range, and do not walk past the wave into his bombs. Level 2 changes nothing because his W knockback can interrupt your E pull the instant your chain is in the air; hold your E until you see him place Satchel Charge or it goes on cooldown. Level 3 is your first real window: if he wastes W on the wave or misses a placement, dash in with E-first-tap, fire the chain hook past his minefield hitbox, and chain into W-Kingslayer before he can reposition. Even then he will likely burn flash — take the trade, it is a win.
