At level 1 you have Poison Trail only and Kennen has Thundering Shuriken — he pokes you from outside your reach for free. Do not step up to trade; accept some poke and last-hit at the back of your wave. His Mark of the Storm stacks are the whole danger: if he lands a Q and then autos you twice he can stun you before Fling is even on your bar, so count his marks and back off at two stacks every time. The goal at levels 1-3 is to arrive at level 4 healthy and positioned to proxy, not to prove you can tank his poke kit.
