How to win lane as Rumble against Gnar · 52.77% win rate (775 Emerald+ games, lolalytics, sampled July 2026) · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
Flame %HP-poke mini — E-slow Mega, win the poke war.
Track: Gnar's R — GNAR! (90–30s cooldown). His Mega all-in. E-slow + kite it.
Read from Rumble's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Gnar.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Gnar | Mini-Gnar is fully ranged at Level 1 and can stack Hyper and throw Boomerang outside Flamespitter range — you cannot trade back cleanly and must farm defensively. |
| Level 2 | Gnar | Hop is up and Boomerang outranges you 1100 to 600 — even when the cone lands he leaps 475 clear before the Danger Zone damage has paid out. |
| Level 3 | Even / skill | Both kits are live but the matchup is genuinely contested — you can threaten a short Flamespitter trade if hop is down, but he can still kite and proc Hyper on you. |
| Levels 4-5 | Even / skill | Hop's 22 seconds at rank 1 caps how often he can be aggressive — count it, and commit a full Danger Zone Flamespitter the moment he steps up without it. |
| Level 6 | Even / skill | Equalizer is the equaliser, but it burns and slows rather than walling — lay it on the ground he must cross in either form and it still forces respect. |
| First item | Rumble | Liandry's Torment makes Flamespitter tick for percent-HP magic burn — mini-Gnar's health pool cannot sustain a Danger Zone window and you win every extended trade from here. |
| Two+ items | Rumble | Two items of sustained burn and Equalizer's teamfight presence mean Rumble does not need to win the 1v1 to win the game — the slow wall controls entire fights Gnar cannot answer. |
At Levels 1 and 2 mini-Gnar is purely ranged: Boomerang Throw reaches 1100 against your 600 cone, so you cannot answer it without walking into the poke. Last-hit under tower threat and do not spend Electro Harpoon on someone who hops straight back. The boomerang returns to him, so it can hit you twice, and catching it cuts its 16-second cooldown — stand to the side of the return path and he pays full price. Hyper stacks on his attacks and spells for bonus damage and a move-speed burst, so count his hits and step out before the empowered one. The lane is his here: eat as little as possible and wait for Level 3, where a short trade is on if he over-chases.

Rumble, slightly — a 52.77% win rate edge over 775 games; execution can flip it.
Mostly — Rumble has a small statistical edge (52.77% win rate), but execution decides this lane far more than the pick does.
Not a hard counter — Rumble has a slight edge (52.77% win rate), and play quality decides the rest.
Rumble takes Arcane Comet on the Sorcery tree with Manaflow Band, Transcendence and Scorch, and Inspiration secondary (Biscuit Delivery and Cosmic Insight) vs Gnar.
Start Doran's Ring + 2 Health Potions and back for Core component + boots (≈1300g). Build Liandry's Torment (burn synergy) first, then Riftmaker, with Sorcerer's Shoes.
