Mel pokes from outside your range with Q while you only have Q and one of E/W, so levels 1-3 are about eating minimum chip and farming with Q-tip last-hits rather than walking into her line. Do not throw Q as an opener and then walk in dry — she just steps back and Q's you again. Bait her to step up for a CS, land Q to stick the slow, and only commit when you can actually reach her with an auto and E; otherwise back off and let your sustain reset.
