Dodge her E — Q-hook into CC, out-trade her.
Track: Poppy's E — Heroic Charge (14–10s cooldown). Wall-pin stun. Dodge it.
Read from Nautilus's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Poppy.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | You're both weak at level 1 with no all-in, and your passive root on the first auto wins a bare auto-trade if she steps up — but you have no Q gap-close edge yet. |
| Level 2 | Poppy | Her W (Steadfast Presence) is up and grounds your Q anchor mid-flight, cancelling your only engage and stranding you in her E-stun range. |
| Level 3 | Poppy | Her full Q-E-W is online — she pins you to a wall for a stun then knocks you up, and her percent-current-HP Q ignores the tank stats your W shield is built on. |
| Levels 4-5 | Poppy | She keeps the edge as her E-stun-into-Q out-trades every fight you try to start, since W grounds your Q before you can pull her. |
| Level 6 | Nautilus | Depth Charge is a homing, undodgeable knock-up and her W only stops dashes — bait W, then R her flat-footed and chain passive-root, Q-pull and E-slow. |
| First item | Poppy | Her first bruiser item plus E-wall-stun out-trades you, and Keeper's Verdict knocks you out of any all-in or cancels the gank you set up. |
| Two+ items | Poppy | You have no scaling — tank items do nothing against her percent-HP Q, so stop dueling her and become a CC-bot that lands R and Q-pull on her carries in teamfights. |
Level 1 is roughly even — neither of us has a real all-in, and my passive root on the first auto lets me win a bare auto-trade if she walks up. But the moment Poppy hits level 2-3 this lane gets ugly. Her W (Steadfast Presence) grounds dashes, and my Q anchor pull counts — if she pops W as I throw it, my only gap-close and engage tool is cancelled mid-flight and I've wasted my entire kit. Don't open with Q into a Poppy who has W up. Worse, my W shield and tank stacking do nothing here: her Q deals percent-current-HP, so being chunky just gives her more to carve. Farm with E waves, respect her E-pin-to-wall stun, and never fight with your back to a wall.
