How to win lane as Mel against Pantheon · 42.48% win rate (904 Emerald+ games, lolalytics, sampled July 2026) · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
His dash goes through your reflect — snare the landing spot and save W for the burst, not the engage.
Track: Pantheon's W — Shield Vault (13–9s cooldown). Point-and-click stun — respect the all-in any time it is up.
Read from Mel's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Pantheon.
This is Mel's own plan; across 904 pooled games the lane is Pantheon-favoured.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | Even at 1 — Mortal Will empowers his spear and his W stun threatens your squishy body, but you out-range him, so neither of you commits cleanly with one ability. |
| Level 2 | Mel | Your second point gives you Q poke plus Solar Snare's root, so any step he takes to last-hit eats a guaranteed punish his W stun can't answer from outside your range. |
| Level 3 | Mel | With Q, E and Rebuttal you poke, root and return his spear — but Aegis Assault blocks frontal damage on 22s, so never volley the brace. |
| Levels 4-5 | Mel | Your Q ranks up and Overwhelm stacks from every forced trade while his flat early damage stops scaling — you own the gap-close-reliant bully here. |
| Level 6 | Even / skill | Even at 6 — Golden Eclipse detonates your stacks for an execute threat from range, but his global Grand Starfall lets him answer your kill pressure with a roam elsewhere. |
| First item | Mel | Lost Chapter mana and your first AP item let you chain Q pokes and detonate R freely as Pantheon's flat damage collapses into your range advantage. |
| Two+ items | Mel | There's no Pantheon scaling spike to fear — your range, Overwhelm execute and infinitely-scaling passive only widen the gap the longer the game goes. |
Pantheon is a real level-1 threat and I'm not, so I don't contest the wave toe-to-toe early — Mortal Will empowers his next spell every few casts, and a point-click W stun into that spear can chunk my squishy frame. I farm at max distance with Q Radiant Volley instead. The lane turns at level 2: Q poke plus my Solar Snare root means any step he takes to last-hit eats a guaranteed punish he can't stun his way out of, because Shield Vault has to close 600 range I'm already poking through. By 3 I have W Rebuttal up to eat his Q spear and fire it back, so I own the trade pattern.
