How to win lane as Master Yi against Volibear · 50.5% win rate (200 Emerald+ games, lolalytics, sampled July 2026) · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
Read from Master Yi's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Volibear.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Volibear | Volibear's Q stun and Maul healing out-trade you from level 1. |
| Level 2 | Volibear | At 2 his empowered autos and sustain still beat your Meditate. |
| Level 3 | Volibear | Level 3 his run-down and heal keep you off him before items. |
| Levels 4-5 | Even / skill | Levels 4-5 are even — both scaling, no clean kill threat yet. |
| Level 6 | Even / skill | Level 6 Stormbringer disables your tower and lets him dive you freely. |
| First item | Master Yi | Your first item and Wuju true damage shred him through his healing. |
| Two+ items | Master Yi | Two-plus items give you true-damage melt and resets that out-scale Voli. |
Volibear beats you 1-3: Thundering Smash (Q) closes and stuns to interrupt your Alpha Strike, Frenzied Maul (W) heals him through trades, and his empowered autos out-damage anything you can answer with Meditate. You have no way to punish his sustain this early, so farm from range, use Q on the wave to stay healthy, and don't trade into his abilities.
